Program Description

Cognitive Dissonance is the state of having inconsistent thoughts, beliefs, or attitudes, especially as it relates to behavioral decisions and attitude changes. This effect is only natural after a state of repetitious life-altering events.

In a #MeToo, #BLM, and COVID-19 pandemic world, we are seeing a workforce demanding to publicly talk about topics that have historically taken a back seat or been discussed behind closed doors. Now that mass information is easy to access, law students and attorneys are in a state of cognitive dissonance with their personal and professional identifies, leading to “The Great Resignation.” Victims, allies, and advocates alike are creating safe spaces within their organizations to debrief and discuss trending EDI topics, while others are making life changing decisions to leave.

Join Jessica Cordero as she discusses her experience leaving the legal field to open her own consulting firm and join the DU Law community to help students navigate this new world.
