In this session, participants will learn about Ethics that are in compliance with C.R.C.P. 250.5(3). Equity, Diversity, and Inclusivity (EDI) components will include: the definition of Identity, Diversity, and Inclusion; distinctions between EEO, Affirmative Action and D&I; Organizational Inclusion and its benefits; Coded Language & Code Switching; Inclusive Language; Micro Affirmations and Micro Changes, and fostering Belonging and Inclusive practices for law firms and lawyers working in any environment. Participants will receive electronic materials following the program. The presentation will be conducted remotely as a Webinar through Zoom.
About the Speakers
Robin Reese (she/her/per) is the newly-appointed Executive Director of CLI. Pers most salient identities are: Queer, Mother through Adoption, and Anti-Racist. With over 20 years of experience in social justice work, including higher education, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion consulting, victim advocacy, and theatre and performance, per recently received a masters degree in Leadership in Diversity and Inclusion from The University of Kansas. Her subject matter expertise includes curriculum development, educating, research, and writing in Anti-Racism, Implicit Bias, Microaggressions, Privilege and Power, LGBTQIA2S+, African American History, and Systemic Oppression.
Jon Olafson (he/him/his), a partner in the Denver office of Lewis Brisbois, and a member of the Labor & Employment Practice, is also very involved in the community. He currently serves on the CBA's Executive Council as an at-large member, the Board of Governors representative for the CBA Labor and Employment Section, and serves on Group IV of the CBA’s Diversity Initiatives. As part of his role on the CBA’s Executive Council, Jon also chairs the Racial Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusivity Committee. Since 2020, Jon is also a Bar Fellow with the Colorado Bar Foundation. He is CLI's Executive Committee Secretary.
