Journey to JD

What is Journey to JD (J2JD)?

  • One-week residential program, June 23-29, 2019, at the University of Colorado Boulder, for 20 rising high school juniors.
  • Students will gain a basic understanding of the legal system and empower them to explore the possibilities of a career in the law.
  • Students will be supported, mentored, and encouraged to attend college, law school, and pursue legal opportunities in Colorado.
  • In February 2019, applications were received from Colorado students interested in the law. Selection committee identified promising students from a variety of backgrounds, particularly those which are underÔÇÉrepresented in the legal profession.

What will J2JD Provide to Students?

  • Interactive and engaging learning opportunities:
    • Classroom discussion led by law school faculty and law students.
    • Field trips which highlight different careers and opportunities in the legal profession.
    • Presentations of legal concepts by students.
  • Mentorship and access to resources to assist students with college preparation upon completion of program.

J2JD 2019
Journey to JD is a wrap! 20 high school sophomores from across Colorado enjoyed hands-on experience learning the law during a week-long residential stay at the University of Colorado. Their wonderful experience would not have been possible without CU Law Professor Colene Robinson, our nine staff members, and numerous legal professionals who donated their time to meet with the students. And a special thanks to our donors and sponsors! We are already planning for 2020 - stay tune for upcoming details.
