Congratulations Judge Jackson!
The County Court Judge Association congratulates Judge Gary M. Jackson on being selected as the 2020 Anthony Greco Award winner for judicial excellence. Judge Jackson currently presides in the Criminal Division of the Denver County Court where he was appointed January 1, 2013. Judge Jackson’s legal career spans five decades and includes serving in the Denver District Attorney’s Office where he tried cases before the namesake of this award, Judge Anthony Greco. Judge Jackson also served in the United States Attorney’s Office and as a partner for over thirty years in the law firm he established. Judge Jackson is one of the founders of the Sam Cary Bar Association and has been actively involved in several diversity initiatives focused on increasing diversity, equity, and inclusion in the legal profession and judicial branch. He has generously shared his legal knowledge and experience through mentoring programs and instruction at colleges and law schools throughout Colorado. Judge Jackson has been recognized by many organizations for his achievements and leadership including being awarded the 2018 Colorado Judicial Institute Judicial Excellence Award for a County Court Judge, the Denver County Monte Pascoe Civic Leadership Award in 2018, the 2020 Center for Legal Inclusiveness Hon. Wiley Daniel Lifetime Achievement Award, and the 2020 Denver Bar Association Judicial Excellence Award.
The Anthony Greco Award is given each year to a Colorado County Court Judge and recognizes exemplary achievement and leadership as a county court judge. The award was named after the late Judge Anthony Greco who was appointed to the Denver County Court bench by Mayor William McNichols and served from 1970 to 1984. The award is in recognition of a county judge who exemplifies the traits to which all county judges aspire.
Judge Jackson is the first Black Judge to receive this award.

Ana recently made partner at Hogan Lovells. Ana is co-chair of the Colorado Pledge to Diversity Legal Group and has been an integral leader of the Pledge and its Summer Diversity Clerkship Program for the past 10 years, since she was a 1L Summer Diversity Law Clerk with Hogan.
Congrats to Patrick O’Rourke on Recent Appointment as Interim Executive Vice Chancellor and Chief Operating Officer!
Chancellor Philip DiStefano has appointed CU system Vice President, University Counsel and Secretary of the Board of Regents Patrick O’Rourke interim executive vice chancellor and chief operating officer beginning Feb. 20.
“Patrick has a wealth of experience and expertise supporting our university, and he has worked with the Boulder campus on many issues,” said DiStefano. “I have asked Patrick to continue to build upon the strong foundation of our Strategic Resources and Support team and to collaborate to move our strategic imperatives and Academic Futures priorities forward.” O’Rourke will oversee all areas currently encompassing Strategic Resources and Support (SRS), including enrollment management; finance and business strategy (CFO); human resources (CHRO); information technology (CIO); infrastructure and sustainability; institutional equity and compliance; integrity, safety and compliance; strategic relations and communications; and government, community and external relations.

2019 American Bar Association Center for Professional Responsibility Rosner & Rosner Young Lawyer Professionalism Award Winner
“Ms. Peyton has transformed the idea of mentoring into a lifelong professional development—and professionalism—tool.”
J. Ryann Peyton is the Executive Director of the Colorado Attorney Mentoring Program (CAMP), a program of the Colorado Supreme Court dedicated to providing mentors and professional guidance to new and transitioning lawyers across Colorado. Ms. Peyton is widely regarded as a leader in the promotion of professionalism and professional development, and for developing CAMP into a national model for attorney mentoring.
Ms. Peyton is a consultant and advocate for Colorado’s LGBT community, and sits on the boards of the Colorado LGBT Bar Association, Colorado LGBT Bar Foundation, GLBT Community Center of Colorado, CBA Board of Governors, and Center for Legal Inclusiveness. She has held a long list of leadership positions, and is a member of the ABA Center for Professional Responsibility Diversity Committee and past President of the Colorado LGBT Bar Association.
Ms. Peyton has been recognized as a “Thought Leader” by the Denver Business Journal, was the 2014 Gary McPherson Outstanding Young Attorney of the Year (Colorado Bar Association), and the recipient of the 2014 Exemplary Service Award (Colorado GLBT Bar Association). In addition, under Ms. Peyton’s leadership, CAMP received the Denver Bar Association’s “Outstanding Program of the Year” Award (2017), and the ABA Gambrell Professionalism Award (2018). She is a frequent commentator, presenter, and lecturer on legal mentoring and diversity and inclusion in the legal profession.
Prior to joining CAMP, Ms. Peyton served as the Training and Legal Director for the GLBT Community Center of Colorado, and as Special Counsel and Chair of the Non-Traditional Family Law Practice Group with the Harris Law Firm P.C. She is also the chair-elect of Center for Legal Inclusiveness’s Board of Directors.
